"Gynix Afrika's innovative programs have transformed my life. Thanks to their radio program, Wundia, I now have access to important information about improving my health and confidence. I highly recommend Gynix Afrika's programs to every woman".
Welcome to Gynix Afrika
We are dedicated to improving women's health in Africa through local solutions and partnerships with healthcare providers and stakeholders. We are making a significant impact on the health outcomes of women across the continent.
The burden
According to the World Health Organization, Sub-Saharan Africa, accounts for 68% of global maternal mortality rates. In Nigeria, the lifetime risk of a woman dying during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum or post-abortion is 1 in 22, compared to a lifetime risk of 1 in 4900 in developed counties.
Among the myriad challenges confronting women's health — across different age groups in Africa are non-communicable diseases like breast and cervical cancer, heart disease, chronic obstructive airway disease, diabetes HIV/AIDS & tuberculosis...
Why we exist!
Gynix Afrika aims to improve the health and well-being of women in Africa by providing innovative solutions to their unique health challenges. Through our programs and partnerships, we empower women with knowledge, resources, and access to high-quality healthcare, and work towards a future where every African woman can live a healthy, fulfilled life.
At Gynix Afrika, we envision a future where African women are roundly and adequately health educated, such that they fully know and own their bodies and health, and are able to access quality healthcare promptly, while living their best lives in health.
Our solutions are founded on three pillars
The organization's foremost and grand pillar is health education. We believe achieving societal change starts with the transformation of individual minds that make up society. We use popular and widespread means, including radio programs, health education outreaches, and The Gynix Girls' Club, to teach health information to all women irrespective of class or age group.
We are looking to drastically reduce the spate of deaths from preventable causes affecting our women. Through strategic campaigns like: mass screening and testing for HPV to prevent cervical cancer, breast cancer screening, NCDs screening, STIs screening, antenatal outreach, preconceptional care outreach. We refer as appropriate to health facilities for continued management and follow up.
The third pillar, facilitating access to quality healthcare, aims to improve access to expert care through a women's health app, antenatal app, and a 24/7 toll-free helpline.
Health Education
Wundia is our Flagship indigenous women health radio show in Yoruba language. It has fast become a most viable and effective medium of bringing relatable health information on general women health, to the massive populace of women in the cities, towns, villages, and indeed the unreached interiors across the vast woodlands of South western, Nigeria, and beyond.
We’ve been bringing fresh topics of discourse critical to women health every week, in the most digestible bits of vital information.
