We are a non-governmental organization based in Africa focused on using health education, interventions, and promotion to influence societal attitudes towards women's health and facilitate their access to quality healthcare.
According to the World Health Organization, Sub-Saharan Africa, accounts for 68% of global maternal mortality rates. In Nigeria, the lifetime risk of a woman dying during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum or post-abortion is 1 in 22, compared to a lifetime risk of 1 in 4900 in developed counties.
Among the myriad challenges confronting women's health — across different age groups in Africa are non-communicable diseases like breast and cervical cancer(cervical cancer topping the chart), heart disease, chronic obstructive airway disease and diabetes; HIV/AIDS & tuberculosis.
Adolescent pregnancies and substance abuse, malnutrition & anaemia, mental health challenges like depression and suicide, and gender based violence. Experts and policy makers have attributed the preponderance of these problems to women economic disempowerment, inequality in access to health services, and the poor quality of health care delivery in existing facilities, coupled with lack of sound health information.
Gynix Afrika aims to improve the health and well-being of women in Africa by providing innovative solutions to their unique health challenges. Through our programs and partnerships, we empower women with knowledge, resources, and access to high-quality healthcare, and work towards a future where every African woman can live a healthy, fulfilled life.
At Gynix Afrika, we envision a future where African women are roundly and adequately health educated, such that they fully know and own their bodies and health, and are able to access quality healthcare promptly, while living their best lives in health.
